Here are some photos and stories about our car program recipients. (If you have a car to donate, please read about our car donation program.)

Car 1215, was given away on January 11, 2012.
She says the car will make a difference and
enable her to go looking for a job.

Car 1200, a 99 Dodge Caravan, was given away on
January 6, 2012.  This car will make a difference
in her life because she now has transportation and can
enroll in nursing school and get a nursing degree.

Tuesday, December 13, 2011 was very special. 8 families received pre-owned vehicles from each of the 8 Continental Motors Group dealerships. Imagine if you were a person who could not afford a new car but needed one to get to work, walking into a cardealership to see 8 cars with big bows on them and you were going to receive one of those cars. There were lots of smiles and some tears. The Continental staff were fabulous showing all the clients the features on their cars. Please read more and view a NCTV17 video about the donation.

Car number 1193 was delivered on October, 1
2011 to client who will is working and going to
school. It is one of the cleanest cars CARES has
received.

2011 to another happy car recipient.

to a woman who can now work in areas where
there is no public transporation.

This was a car donated by a Naperville CARES
volunteer!

This client received car number 1164 on April 27,
2011. The day before he got a new job!

Although he does not look old enough, this man
and his wife were refugees from Bhutan and spent
18 years in a refugee camp in Nepal.  He came to
the United States through World Relief and is being
provided guidance and support from members of a
Naperville congregation.   He was car pooling to
work with friends and then got offered a promotion
twice which he had to turn down because he did not
his own transportation to work the different hours of
his new shift. CARES provided him with a vehicle so
he could take the promotion.

This client is the single mother of two children.
She received a donated car on February 1, 2011.

This client will use this car to stay connected with
her church and the community. She received car
#1145 on January 28, 2011.

This woman received a 98 Volvo Station Wagon
on January 13, 2011. She is grateful for the help
she has received from CARES.

This woman received car #1141 on January 7,
2011. She has a degree and is looking for a job
after having been laid-off and loosing her car to
the finance company. She has 2 children.

This man received car #1140 on January 7, 2011.
He is employed and will help will help with
transportation for other recent Iranian Christian
emigrants from Iran.

This man, shown with his fiancée and her son,
received a GMC van on January 5, 2011. It
enables him to get to work.

This woman received a 94 Toyota Previa LE van on
December 23, 2010.  She is a single mother with a
five year-old son who has been unemployed for
several months.  The car will enable her to get and
keep a job.

A ’94 Toyota Corolla, was donated on December 10,
2010 to a mother with small children. She
previously spent money on cabs or relied on the
help of friends for transportation to her job and
school. Her husband left her with a new baby and
a 3 year-old, but she is optimistic about the future
and working hard on her job while continuing her
education.
 
Naperville CARES partnered with St Vincent DePaul
(Ss. Peter and Paul Parish) who provided the funds
for insurance, title, license, and tax.

This single working mother, who needed a car to
get to her job as a home health aide, received a
car through Naperville CARES.

This woman was very grateful to receive this van.
Her friend brought her to the DMV with her children
—they were all happy.

Friday, Nov. 12, 2010: After eleven years of
providing donated vehicles to families who lack
transportation, CARES gave away its 500th car.

This single mother of a 7 year-old son was
homeless and is now in a transitional housing
program through Catholic Charities.  This car
will help this client keep her new job and help
her on her path toward self-sufficiency.

Car #1058 was donated to a woman who had to
walk to work. Thanks to the generous donor of
this vehicle our client will now be able to drive to
work. The client was very grateful especially since
winter was coming on soon.

When the motor on this client's car died, she had
to rent a car to keep her job. This client was
extremely grateful to receive a donated car from
CARES.

This family came to the United States from Iran
through the World Relief Program and is
sponsored by a local church. This donated car
will enable the family to get employment.

CARES provided this client in their Supportive
Housing program a vehicle to get to work.
