Toasting for a Cause
The 6th annual Toasting for a Cause, A Celebration of Food and Wine, was held on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Sullivan's Steakhouse, When the guests arrived, they were served complimentary champagne and they had a chance to participate in a wine grab. The wine served throughout the evening was provided exclusively by St. Supery Vineyards & Winery located in the heart of Napa Valley. The first course was Prosciutto-wrapped Asparagus Filled with Fresh Herb Cream and Cilantro Oil served with Estate Sauvignon Blanc, the second course was Salmon-wrapped Scallops over Roasted Corn Grits with a Chive Buerre Blanc served with Estate Chardonnay, the third course was Mixed Greens tossed in Balsamic Vinaigrette served in a Radicchio Cup with Crumbled Blue Cheese and served with Merlot, the fourth course was 28-day Aged Filet Mignon with Sun-dried Cherry Reduction paired with Cabernet Sauvignon and dessert was a Baked Apple Tartlet with Tahitian Vanilla Bean Creme Anglaise served with Estate Moscato.
Throughout the evening our Mistress of Ceremonies, Dawn DeSart, a member of the Indian Prairie District 204 board, along with board members, Vicky Joseph, Anne Hillebrand and Tom Cordaro discussed the programs of Naperville CARES. Dawn also auctioned off a dinner for ten at Sullivan's Steakhouse and then solicited funds for the programs of Naperville CARES. Thanks to Dawn's efforts and the generosity of Troy Smith and Terrell Cole of Sullivan's and our guests, $36,000 was raised, far exceeding our goal for the evening.
